#51 Painted, Super Dungeon Explore, Heroes, Glimmerdusk Ranger

Super Dungeon Explore, Heroes, Glimmerdusk Ranger

With Guest Painter: Amy

Introduction

This was my first real attempt at painting a miniature. I had previously painted an Orc using 3 colours only, but I don't think I really gave it anywhere as much thought or effort, hence I am claiming this one to be my first attempt.

After searching through images of others who had painted this model I decided to make bright red hair as the stand out colour and decided to stick with mostly bright colours throughout.

Painting

Step By Step

  1. Skin: Skin (Reaper, Caucasian Flesh)
  2. Dress: Purple (Reaper, Gem Purple)
  3. Hair Piece: Purple (Reaper Gem Purple)
  4. Hair Gem: Pink (Vallejo, Game Colour, Warlord Purple)
  5. Hair Band: Yellow (Reaper, Golden Yellow)
  6. Boots: Brown (Reaper Woodland Brown)
  7. Bow: Gold (Army Painter, Greedy Gold)
  8. Cape: Blue (Reaper, Ice Blue)
  9. Hair: Red (Reaper, Brilliant Red)
  10. Cape Ink: Blue (Army Painter Ink, Blue Tone)
  11. Hair Ink: Red (Army Painter Ink, Red Tone)
  12. Dress Ink: Purple (Army Painter Ink, Purple Tone)
  13. Eyes: White (P3, Menoth White Highlight)
  14. Eye Pupil: Black (Army Painter, Matt black)
  15. Base: Black (Army Painter, Matt black)
  16. Base Drybrush: Silver (Army Painter,Gun Metal)
  17. Cape Drybrush: Blue (Reaper, Ice Blue)

Conclusion

I found the painting process to be quite frustrating at times, as I kept going over the same mistakes again and again in an attempt to make them 'perfect.' In the end I had to let some things slide as I was actually creating a lot more work for myself!

Overall though I actually enjoyed painting Glimmerdusk Ranger and enjoyed watching her come alive in colour. I will probably have another go at painting and hopefully reduce the time spent as this one took me 4 1/2 hours! I think that was largely due to me making skill errors so hopefully I have learned something along the way.
8/10
