Warhammer 40k, Dark Vengeance, Chaos Space Marines
Introduction
I picked up Dark Vengeance at the very beginning of my return to miniatures, there was some deal on a online store making me think it was cheap, Online Games Workshop are pushing this thing for $165 now I picked it up from Bunker Games for about $120 which I considered good. Now its at $150 which frankly would have made me laugh all the way to any other game, Looking at you Malifaux.Whats in the Box?
I'm only going to cover the Chaos Space Marines here.Chaos Lord
Helbrute
Aspiring Champion
6x Chosen
20x Cultists
Assembly
Models were assembled easily with the provided instructions, There were no real issues. The Helbrute had one gotcha in the manual which they warned about.Painting
I followed the guides provided by Games Workshop, I substituted some paints for other I had already purchased. The biggest issue I had was betting the white strong on the models, because of the dark under colours it made it very patchy. I tried to cover it with the inks. The guide is here:
Basing
I used the Sand and PVA with gray (Reaper, Military Gray) dry brush method, Nothing complicated. Conclusion
I enjoyed the models and the painting but sadly hated the price tag. I've got a hard mental limit on my spending for Games Workshop, the only stuff I'd spring for these day are the Starter Boxes, but with Mantics Warpath and Kings of war, even Wrath of Kings, Has substantially dried up that well.Good luck Games Workshop.
Would Recommend at sub $120 AUD, there are fun things at the same price and just as nice miniatures.
6/10
