#7 Painted, Infinity, Operation Icestorm

Infinity, Operation Icestorm

Introduction

I will state at the start of this post, I hated this whole thing, the models are nice, they are just way, way, way too hard for me. A good friend of mine loves them, admittedly he hasn't painted them much, other than that their company painter Angel Giraldez has unimaginable skill which makes me a sad painter.

The sad thing is I really wanted to like these guys, I bought an airbrush I tried really hard and failed just as hard. Also these models are  --- CURSED --- , they break when you look at them, they will at the slightest breeze 3 kilometers away fall from the shelf in a closed room and smash into bits.

I do not plan on expanding my collection.

Whats in the Box?

  • Two sets of troops
    • Pan Oceania
    • Nomads
  • Bases
  • A Game Mat (Paper)
  • A bunch of Paper Buildings
  • Rule Book
  • Dice and ruler

The mat is bright and the buildings are nice, I haven't read the rule book so cant really comment on the contents but flipping thought it, it was nice and bright.

Each faction comes in a box and each model comes in a baggy all with slips of paper to no double tell someone something is wrong with what was supplied.

I didn't find anything much wrong with the models there were some flash and this wasn't immediately clear to me as it appeared on strange locations on the models, like the iron sight of the guns.

Models:

Assembly

This whole thing killed me and I will most likely NEVER BUY INFINITY again. I had a heap of trouble getting the arms to line up, It's not a new process for me but for the life of me it was hard, the bits just wouldn't join nicely and the bonds made were broken very easily. I pinned as much as possible but that caused even more issues.

I had so much trouble I stripped all the models to try and do it better the second time.

Doing so lost me 2 head antennas for the Pan Oceania annoying me more. Don't know where they went but they weren't in the acetone when I looked.

Painting

I don't think anyone will ever want to copy what I did so, her is brief breakdown of what I did.

  10. Cloths Inked: Black (Army Painter Ink, Dark)
  11. Flesh Inked: Red (Army Painter Ink, Red)

Basing

Will not use this scheme again, I had this idea that if I make them have patches of bold colour it might look all cool and might seem more anime, failed miserably.

Filler to create the base, carved in a few geometric lines then paint them strong contrasting colours.

Lots didn't work, the bases created with the filler weren't near enough and just looked silly against the clean lines of the models.

Conclusion

I really think Infinity has some nice models, a great look and I really wish I was a better painter.Plus every time I go near the things the explode.

Feel free to have a crack yourself, but I don't think Ill try again.
