#13 Introduction, Super Dungeon Explore, Turtles

Super Dungeon Explore, Turtles

Introduction

Part 2 of the ever widening drama that is Super Dungeon Explore, Turtles need some paint and I'm the sleepy underwhelmed guy to give it to them.

These were provided assembled and cleaned by a good friend, all I have done so far is Primed the miniatures with a white cheap spray primer from the local hardware store.

My process is going to be as follows:
  1. Section off the models into similar types
  2. Select some paint
  3. Paint the models from easiest to hardest.
  4. ???
  5. Use an old cliche

The Models

According to the cards provided I am looking at the following Models.
Rock Pile
Slowpoke

Roller

Bombardier
Crusher

Painting

As I really haven't started painting these models at time of writing this section is what my thinking is at the moment.

I am going to be air brushing, I am going to be try and make as much use of it as possible I don't mind brush painting but when I'm dealing with large blocks of colour like these models it just makes sense.

For the turtles I am looking at a colour scheme where the "more powerful" the turtle gets the darker its skin, I am undecided if I do the shells in the same pattern. Perhaps I do them like Koopas from Mario with red and green.

Basically:
Shell: Light Green, Green or Dark Red, Red
Skin, Dark Green
Underbelly: Tan, Brown highlights (darklights?)
Nails: White/Off White
Eyes: Red

Regardless Crusher is going to have to stand out from the rest as the model is just a larger variant of the others.

The Bombardiers are going to be similar to the smaller turtles with black cannons (similar to Mario), brown leavers silver dry brush most likely too.

The Rock Piles, am not entirely sure, Ill definitely use green in the scheme somewhere, white/off white on the skulls and some kind of brown or grey on the pedestal.

In terms of painting order, I try to go from easy to hard within one theme:
  1. Roller Shells
  2. Roller
  3. Slowpoke
  4. Crusher
  5. Bombardier
  6. Rock Pile

 Conclusion

I am unsure how I will present the progress as each set is painted, I may make individual updates as one set is completed. With a final round up done one all completed.

Good luck and keep painting.
